A Window Fit for a Boudoir Queen

1940-1950, 1950-1960, Style, Windows

Vintage sleepwear is incredible. The detail put into nightgowns and lingerie back when they were primarily handmade never ceases to amaze us… and the silks and satins don’t hurt much either!

For our most recent window, we’re displaying some dreamy vintage boudoir looks, as well as saucy vintage-inspired lingerie. Take a gander. Some detail shots after the jump!

An Ode to Wool and Woolly Things

Beautiful Things, Lovely Materials, Style

There’s no better companion during the winter months than a quality wool coat, or a luxurious cashmere sweater. Here, Alex and Angelina photograph several wool pieces that could become a staple of your winter wardrobe.

Starting with an essential element to any woman’s wardrobe, the gigantic cozy sweater. It doubles as a blanket for lazy evenings on the couch, but you can also dress it up with a belt and boots for a night out! This one is a wool blend, for added comfort.

Halfway between your favorite blazer and your favorite flannel button-up, this brightly-colored wool jacket is an easy (and warm!) way to spice up jeans and a t-shirt.

More essential winter wools for both men and women after the jump!

Pas Cher Chic featuring Petrune

Publicity, Special Events, Style

When Jenna, purveyor of fashionable things over at Pas Cher Chic, approached us about featuring Petrune in a blog post, we were pretty psyched. Her blog over at pascherchic always has amazing styling ideas and a really unique point of view, whether she’s at a vintage boutique, a thrift store, or H&M.

We were especially excited when she totally pulled of a couple pairs of leather 80’s pants. We’ve been waiting for someone to come along with the cojones to rock those! Jenna and her sister modeled a number of super sassy red, black, and white themed looks, calling to mind our beloved White Stripes. And really, when the White Stripes are even tangentially involved, there’s no way to deny the awesome factor.

Here’s a few of our fave looks, but be sure to check out her blog for two posts of Petrune goodness!

Hifashion Studios Shoot with Petrune

Special Events, Style

You may remember HiFashion Studios from their runway show at Ithaca College a couple months back. A student organization devoted to a love of fashion, HiFashion studios sent looks down the runway from many boutiques and designers around Ithaca, including some beautiful vintage pieces from here at Petrune.

We were thrilled when they approached us to create a photo spread for their magazine! After a fun shoot with Lucy, some of the folks from HiFashion, and some very patient and cooperative models, they got some beautiful images.

Check out their full magazine here!

More Colorful, More Cozy

Beautiful Things, Lovely Materials, Style

We’ve been loving the look of our primary colors window display! We’ve also got a lot of great feedback from our beautiful customers, so we’re glad you’re down with the bananna-yellow military jacket and blue suede shoes combo ; ).

Keeping with the theme of “beautiful clothes that starve off crushing seasonal depression,” Bethany put together some outfits displaying the wonderful intersection of Comfort and Color.

Anyone can pull off an electric blue velvet overcoat with the proper accessories!

Fall in Full Color!

Style

With the leaves falling off the trees, the days getting shorter, and the Farmer’s Market closing up, Ithaca does lose a bit of its vibrancy towards the end of fall. You however, do not have to! With neutrals taking the stage in the world around us, there is no better time to throw on a fuscia overcoat and make the world your supersaturated oyster.

Inspired by colorful looks like this vintage Pierre Cardin dress and this turquoise and Chartreuse ensemble from Facehunter, our current window aims to add a pop of pigment beyond the usual camel shades of fall. Enjoy!

Actually the most amazing collar I've ever seen on a sweater.

It’s denim season!

Lovely Materials, Rock and Roll, Style

Denim. It’s as American as apple pie, yet as wild as west Texas. Invented as rugged work-wear for ranch hands in 1800’s America, denim is now seen everywhere, from the runways of Paris, to the overalls of OshKosh B’Gosh. Here at Petrune, we’ve been gathering our denim goodies together since the first wisps of fall air. Whether you’re in the market for a classic jean jacket, or an acid-wash pencil skirt, we’ve got you covered.

Denim enables sass.

Acid wash fun!

A good jean jacket is a must!

Usually wouldn't use "beautifully detailed" to describe overalls, but these are something else.
