The 1960s
The early 1960s were best represented by Jackie Kennedy. Her youthful glamour represented the more colorful and ladylike clothes of the day. The skirt was just under the knee with an A-line silouhette. Shoes became flatter and her hair got bigger. Many clothes hung on the body with a more architectural look.
In the mid-late 1960s, the "mod" look was in and was representative of the modern youths from London. The skirt got higher and higher until the mini skirt was born. Many women wore body suits, leotards or tights to cover up some of the exposed body. There was even more color. Fashion was known to be above the shoulders and below the waist where hair and legs were the focal points. Half of the population of the time was under 25 as the baby boomers were reaching their early 20s. There was blatant sexuality and an overall more youthful look.
